MCS

The MCS is the only 3rd Party Certification Scheme globally that covers both installer companies and product manufacturers across all technologies in the microgeneration sector. [link to MCS]

CWP’s CEO, Gideon Richards was involved with the MCS since its launch  in 2006 up until December 2017.  During time with the MCS Gideon has held various posts  including  Chair of the MCS Steering Group,  Interim CEO of the MCS Service Company and  Director for the MCS Service Company Ltd.  His work for the MCS included all aspects of managing a multi-million pound revenue certification scheme, from the day-to-day management, to shaping and communicating the scheme’s strategic vision and being the public face of the scheme.   His role included daily collaboration with government departments, trade associations and industry stakeholders.

In 2017 MCS registered its one millionth installation and Gideon, along with his colleagues, including those from DBEIS (formerly DECC), oversaw the development of an innovative scheme that has helped to increase consumer trust and confidence in the microgeneration sector and has been recognised as delivering a robust and useful framework for other parts of the building services industry.

During his time at the MCS Gideon also played a key role in managing the scheme through complex situations including a judicial review (in which the MCS was ultimately successful), legal novation and establishment of a charity.
